Our Story

It all started when a sweet Alabama boy walked into a bowling alley and smiled at a mean Belizean Chicago grown girl, melting heart. Six months later with declarations of love and promises of forever, they sat down and talked about a future and what expectations they have for one another. One of his requests was that she makes him home cooked meals. Her response? I can do that! And off she marched to the kitchen, cookbook in hand planning on living her best Leave it to Beaver life and determined to be the next Martha Stewart. 

Covid hit and she gets the great idea of cooking her way through a cookbook and realizes that she LOVES to cook. One day she decides to make fudge, then a different kind of fudge, and another, and another. Then she found a love of making candied nuts, then cheesecake. 

2021 Dowdell’s This and That, LLC was brought to life, from her love of cooking and the desire to make sure everyone is fed with a touch of love. Our goal is to produce the best quality product that brings joy to everyone, one dessert at a time.
